The transition problem
Many challenges become clear only after classes begin. GlobalWay starts after students have experienced their first days on campus, helping them understand what matters now, whom to ask, and what action to take first—from early adjustment through preparation for the final stretch of the semester, without claiming to cover final exams or the full term.
Three core pillars
Courses, credits, professors, academic advising, career services, student clubs, deadlines, and recruiting timelines.
Classmates, upper-year students, professors, club leaders, campus communities, networking, and appropriate follow-up.
Identify relevant opportunities, set priorities, avoid unnecessary fear of missing out, and create realistic weekly actions.
Across ten Sundays, the emphasis adapts to real academic, campus-resource, relationship, belonging, networking, and early-career questions—not a fixed course sequence.

What students receive
This is not a rigid online course. Conversations begin with the situations students are actually facing, then connect those questions to practical tools, relevant university resources, and manageable next steps.

Founder-led guidance
GlobalWay is led by Steven Xiong, a recent Queen’s University Smith School of Business graduate. Having completed the international-student transition himself, Steven built GlobalWay around the decisions, systems, relationships, and questions that are difficult to understand from official information alone.
His role is to help students interpret what they encounter, prepare for useful conversations, and turn broad advice into realistic weekly action—not to make choices for them. The aim is greater independence as the semester progresses.
GlobalWay is an independent program and is not operated or endorsed by Queen’s University or another university.
A quick self-check
GlobalWay supports students in making their own decisions. It does not write assignments, complete applications, or guarantee results.

Context beyond a checklist
Steven's guidance draws on his own international-student journey at Queen's, student organizations, campus communities, consulting work, and early career exploration—not a generic playbook detached from university life.
